Hapi ang Buhay the Musical: Filipino Bollywood?

The comedy TV series, Hapi ang Buhay, reinvents itself as a musical full length movie set to roll out nationwide. Its red carper premiere happened last September 21, 2018 at SM Megamall Cinemas 3 and 4. Your favorite characters from the Net 25 series break out in song and dance as this musical comedy will be sure to entertain, as well as teach a moral or two.

When Alfajor, the local moneylender, is found unconscious in an alley, Barangay Kaysaya is thrown into confusion and musical frenzy; with special participation from veteran actors Antonio Aquitania, Victor Neri and Mike Magat as you have never seen them before.

The musical is written and directed by internationally-acclaimed director Carlo Ortega Cuevas, who won the Best Director in Foreign Language for the film Walang Take Two at the Internaitonal Filmmaker Festival of World Cinema in London and the Best Newcomer Filmmaker of the Year at the World Film Awards in Jakarta, Indonesia. Cuevas' last film, Guerrero, recently won Best Feature Comedy Film at the Amsterdam International Film Festival 2018 and Best Editing in a Foreign Language Film at the Madrid International Film Festival 2018.

"The ultimate reason why we, EBC films, are making movies is to promote values. And I believe that promoting values doesn't have to be boring. So, we are trying our best to educate and inspire the audience without sacrificing entertainment value," said Cuevas.

Onboard with Cuevas as cinematographer is Giancarlo Escamillas who was declared Best Cinematographer in a Foreign Language Film at the Madrid International Film Festival 2017. The musical arrangement was done by Abednego Alfonso and Amiel Tuazon.

"Filipinos love to sing and dance. It provides us the quick escape from life's daily challenges. Hapi ang Buhay the Musical will not only make you laugh and sing but will also instill values through a satire of Filpino life," Robert Capistrano of EBC Films said.

Hapi ang Buhay the Musical is the second offering of EBC Films in its mission to produce inspirational, values-based films.
